Some issues that stand out for me.
1. The equipment being used is much the same as we use today.
2. Girls were being taught chemistry in our schools.
3. The height of the ceilings coupled with open windows so that smoke and fume are removed naturally. In the Old Retford Grammar School picture, the set up looks like they are making sulfur dioxide!!
